Yes, I think it has - I can't remember where I saw that bit of info though. But I do remember it was about the actress who was going to play one of the future wives. Sorry to be so vague Hmmm

Yes, I don't mind the music - it's just the actual length of it all - like 'how many clips can we pack into the title sequence'.

Anyway, the penultimate episode of Season 2 tonight! I shall miss it when it finishes! Although Spooks should happily be coming along in October - so that will keep me somewhat happy Wink

Thanks Lady D - so will we get to see Jonathan Rhys Meyers age???? and pile on the pounds?! I expect we will have one more series on Henry, maybe even Edward VI included and then we'll get Mary/Elizabeth, with Elizabeth then getting a series of her own.

Last night's episode was particularly good - aside from the historical howlers, of course. My sympathy for Anne was over-whelming. She must have felt such terror - and those innocent men! Wipng down the scaffold in between executions, the blood on the block - it was horrifying.

Of course, I was cursing sickly Jane Seymour - only too willing to step into a dead woman's shoes. I often wonder how callous she could be.

Anerje

No - JRM witll neither age nor get fat according to an article printed in the Telegraph (UK newspaper) on 1st September 2008.

Apparently, a fat old king is not "appealing" nor does it make good television viewing!

Speaking as a hot blooded, single (and therefore at the moment deprived) woman, I can only register my relief that JRM will not be turning into a blob Twisted Evil

Yes, even I felt sympathy for Anne - and I don't even like the character! Also, NatalieDormer has a habit of sticking her neck out and forwards alot (no joke intended here!) and I sometimes woory that it will suddenly either detach from her body or else the neck wil suddenly turn into a snake-like ceature and go off on a journey around court on ts own!

And I totally agree with you about Jane Seymour, Anerje, - she does seem really sickly sweet. I know in reality she was quite a docile woman, but this one somehow doesn't have the air of innocence I'd expected. Is it intended, do you think, or a casting thing?

So JRM isn't going to don the fat-suit? That's ridiculous! Granted, a portly Henry may not be appealing, (guess we can empathise with Catherine Howard here!) but that's how he was. And did I hear right at the end of series 2 - 'The third and final part of the Tudors.....' -

Lady D - yes, you are right - there was no innocence about Jane at all. No remorse when Anne caught her with Henry, and when the discussions about her being queen were going on, she didn't once ask what was to become of Anne. It may have been deliberate - we'll have to see how the character developes in the next series. I can't see her being anything other than pliable - but maybe there's another surprise in store next series.

When you say you don't like Anne Boleyn - do you just mean as played by Natalie Dormer (and yes, I take your point about the neck-thrusting! ) or Anne herself. lol!

Hi Anerje - good to see you back after your little accident Very Happy

I think my dislike comes from how Natalie Dormer plays her. Not because she is a bad actress though - I think her performance in the final episodes of series two was very moving - but more to do with that neck-thrusting! It just got on my nerves.

Anne Boleyn herself - well the jury's out on that one for me as I don't know enough. I know that she is put over as scheming and manipulative by history (or as a tragic victim) but she and her family were only doing what other familys tried to do - i.e. further themselves by any means possible. And she was also the victim of much propaganda (our old friend).

If I dislike any real character from that period it has to be Henry himself not just for how he treated his wives and those around him but also because he allowed the destruction of so many beautiful buildings (Ok, I know he probably didn't see them as that back then, but even so!). angry2

How true! I'll never forgive him for the destruction of the Lady Chapel at Tewkesbury, for one. Thank goodness the rest of the abbey was spared!

Thanks Lady D - I'm slowly recovering from my accident - it's just my right arm is quite weak.

The Tudors is my fav era - it's the period I know most about. And Anne is my heroine - has been since I was about 7. I think she was an exceptionally clever woman and she stood out at court because of her personal attributes rather than what was considered conventional beauty. She was what I'd term a politician in a time when woman were not, if you follow. I didn't like the wy the tv series portrayed her as her father's puppet - Anne was the leader of her faction. She was a genuine Reformist and advanced the carers of Cranmer and Cromwell, and sponsored Tynedale's English translation of the bible.

And yes, I can sympathise with the desruction of the churches, monastries and other religious houses - it's a real loss for us historians. Unfortunately, the abuses of the clergy sealed their fate.

Henry VIII is not really a fav of mine - he had a monsterous ego and was extremely cruel, as well as squandering the wealth of the country in unnecessary wars. It's his court I am more interested in.

Joss Stone to star as Anne of Cleves in the next series of The Tudors - surely this has to be a joke????
